Florida opened grouper in the gulf earlier than the Atlantic and I had a weather window so I ran out to the last hot spot. The location that was packed with fish last month had none. I was already 40 miles out, Wind waves were 7 inches with a 1 inch white cap and a 1/2 foot swell every couple minuets so I went 12 miles further out to a contour line on the chart that looked interesting. The spot was absolutely packed with large true red snapper in 7 pound class. I got tired of sorting through them and did not photo but here is what the sounder showed.
Red Snapper is closed because there are so many they need to be protected from sport fishing!
